Utah Jazz – 1st round, pick No. 30

With the final pick in the first round of the 2021 NBA Draft, the Utah Jazz selecting Ayo Dosunmu might not be a terrible idea. The Jazz had a disappointing end to their playoff run, but they have shooters and talented players who Ayo could make even better.

The Jazz have been a winning organization for the majority of my life. They continue to put great pieces around young players who are developing into superstars. Even when they have a down year, the Jazz aren’t in the dumps too long before bouncing back and being contenders again.

I absolutely love the pieces that would be around Ayo in Utah as well. Donovan Mitchell is a budding young superstar who has all the potential in the world. A solid running mate next to him like Ayo would only elevate his game even more. Ayo could sit behind some of their great guards for a few years while getting minutes and building his confidence in the NBA.

Jordan Clarkson was the Sixth Man of the Year in the NBA this past season. I could see Ayo taking over that role to begin his career. He could be a spark off the bench for the Jazz. The ability for him to drive in the lane and find the open man would really help this team be even more efficient.

The Jazz also has some aging veterans and they won’t be able to keep everyone on the roster. Rudy Gobert and Mitchell are the two big players signed for a while. Utah will need to fill in the upcoming gaps with some inexpensive young talent. Ayo could be that player.

I love the Jazz as a potential landing spot for Ayo. They have a good roster and the front office willing to do whatever it takes to win. Ayo would fit seamlessly with the organization.
