There are numerous NBA mock draft predictions being published, and one of them has Ayo Dosunmu going in the early second round.

Now that the NBA Draft lottery is complete and the draft itself is just about a month away, the mock drafts are heating up. There are a ton of predictions out there about who is going to what team. Matt Babcock of BasketballNews.com released his latest mock draft just days ago.

In his mock draft, Babcock has Cade Cunningham going No. 1 to the Detroit Pistons, who just won the draft lottery. You can get through the first round of his mock draft without seeing an Illini player taken, though.

But, early in the second round, you will see fortunes change for the Orange and Blue. With pick No. 8 in the second round of the 2021 NBA Draft, the Chicago Bulls select Ayo Dosunmu.

Babcock has Ayo going ahead of some notable names such as DJ Steward, Aaron Henry, Terrence Shannon Jr., Isaiah Livers, Luka Garza and Joe Wieskamp.

Would this NBA mock draft be good for Ayo Dosunmu’s future?

The Bulls have been a struggling team for quite some time now. They are now on their fourth-straight season without seeing the playoffs, and they have only made one postseason in the past six years. That isn’t a good run.

On a ticket sales front, Ayo would be a great addition to the Bulls. A Chicago kid going to the local NBA team is always a good move. If you aren’t going to make the postseason, at least have a reason to bring fans into the United Center.

On a basketball front, I think this would also be a good move. The majority of the Bulls roster has expiring contracts after the 2021-22 campaign, so there will be room to grow with the organization.

Coby White is cementing himself as the future at the point, but the depth behind him isn’t there. They need someone who can be a solid backup to White or even a player who could play alongside the former North Carolina stud. That is a valuable asset Ayo brings to the table. He can play pretty much any role in the backcourt.

I love the idea of Ayo heading to the Bulls. Babcock’s mock draft will hopefully be on-point for what actually happens in late July.
