Illinois Basketball: Top 5 Illini wing-forwards of the 2010s
1. Malcolm Hill
The final player on the list of the top five wing-forwards of the 2010s is an obvious one. Arguably one of the best players during this decade and easily the best wing-forward has to go to Malcolm Hill.
Hill entered the Illinois basketball program as a top 100 recruit looking to make a name for himself. As a freshman, Hill got his legs underneath him averaging 14.1 minutes per game. This laid the groundwork for his sophomore through senior seasons.
As a sophomore, Hill put up 14.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game. Those are great numbers that would only improve from there. Hill would follow his tremendous sophomore campaign with averages of 18.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.2 steals as a junior and 17.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.2 steals as a senior.
The numbers that Hill was able to post during his career are why he ranks as the best wing-forward of the 2010s. His career averages included 13.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. Sadly, he would never see the NCAA tournament, but that didn’t have anything to do with his play on the court.
Hill is one of the best to ever put on an Illinois jersey. The kid had all the potential in the world and continues to hoop it up for the House of ‘Paign in the TBT.
