4. Cameron Corhen

The search for another big man continues as Illinois has a ton of feelers out for some talented paint fillers. One player I think many Illini fans should keep an eye on is Cameron Corhen.

Corhen is a 6-foot-9, 205-pound center from John Paull II High School and resides in Allen, Texas. He is rated as a three-star recruit and ranked as the No. 39 center in the class of 2022. He is also the No. 26 player coming out of the state of Texas.

The recruitment of Corhen has blown up over the past few months with a number of big-time programs offering him a scholarship. Illinois just came in with their offer to the big man on May 7. Corhen has yet to take an official but I would venture to say those are coming in the next month or so.

Prediction/Analysis

One might think that Illinois is late to the party with only offering Corhen a scholarship a little over a month ago. That isn’t the case at all.

The Illini hired Chester Frazier as an assistant coach. Frazier has been recruiting Corhen for a while now, and their connection dates back to Frazier’s Virginia Tech days. So, that bond was always there, and Frazier just needed to offer Corhen a scholarship when he took the job at Illinois.

With Corhen heading to Sunrise Christian for his final season of high school basketball, I am sure all of the big players will really be pushing for him to come to their school. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Kansas heavily involved. But, honestly, I think this recruitment is Illinois’ to lose as of right now.
