3. Andres Feliz

There have been quite a few transfers impact the Illinois basketball program over the years, but I could argue Andres Feliz was one of the best transfers we have ever had.

Brad Underwood recruited Feliz to come to Illinois from Northwest Florida State College. Feliz was tearing it up with the Raiders, as he averaged 20 points, 6.1 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game as a sophomore. He then took his talents to Champaign to finish out his final two years of college.

Feliz’s production in year one was solid despite the team struggling. He averaged 8.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1 steal per game. But his final season with the Orange and Blue was one of the best we have seen from a transfer.

In the process of Illinois making a run at the NCAA tournament and being one of the top teams in the Big Ten, Feliz was doing whatever it took to win games. He averaged 11 points, 5 rebounds and 2.9 assists per contest. He was moved around that entire year and was a crucial piece to the Illini’s success.

While the assist numbers weren’t tremendously high, Feliz was still a floor general for this program. I am putting the talented transfer as the No. 3 point guard of the 2010s for the Illini.
