3. Cameron Corhen

It would be nice to secure a big man who could be the future of the Illinois basketball team in the paint. Losing Kofi Cockburn is going to hurt in the coming years. But someone like Cameron Corhen could be a nice replacement.

Corhen is a 6-foot-9, 205-pound center from John Paul II High School and resides in Allen, Texas. He is rated as a three-star recruit but isn’t ranked by 247Sports. The lack of ranking hasn’t stopped big-time programs from offering him a scholarship. Corhen has offers from a variety of programs including the likes of Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Florida and Arizona.

Just a couple of months ago, Corhen wasn’t a name Illinois fans would have even thought about. But, on May 7, the Illini came in with a scholarship offer. A big reason the Illini are pursuing Corhen is due to the hiring of Chester Frazier. Frazier offered Corhen a scholarship when he was with Virginia Tech and has now brought that scholarship with him to Illinois.

Virginia Tech is still getting an official visit, though. The Hokies and Houston are the two official visits that Corhen has set up so far. There are three official visit slots open, and it looks like Illinois is one of the teams that are heavily involved in the recruitment of the talented big man, according to Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers.

Getting a solid big man for the future seems to be a priority for Brad Underwood and his coaching staff. Corhen would fit that bill and be a great player to have in the paint. Continue watching his recruitment to see if the Illini can get one of his final official visits.
