Illinois Football: Breakdown of Illini official visits for the June 4 weekend
Illinois football has, arguably, the most important month of June in program history coming up.
The first round of official visits starts this weekend with some extremely important commitments and recruits coming to Champaign.
Here is the breakdown of Illini official visits for the June 4 weekend.
1. Dallan Hayden
Hayden is a 5-foot-11, 195-pound running back out of Memphis, Tennessee. He is rated as a four-star recruit and ranked as the No. 225 player in the class of 2022. Illinois wasn’t involved in Hayden’s recruitment until Bret Bielema was hired.
On January 1, Hayden released his top four of Oregon, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Tennessee. Since then, the Illini hired Bielema and Hayden’s brother, Chase, transferred into the Illinois program. Look for the Illini to be real contenders after a great official visit this weekend.
2. Shawn Miller
Miller is a 6-foot-1, 190-pound wide receiver out for Bradenton, Florida but is originally from Arizona. He is rated as a three-star recruiting and ranked as the No. 478 player in the class of 2022.
Back on February 27, Miller dropped his top five and included West Virginia, Miami (FL), Arizona, Indiana and Illinois. It does look like that top five has changed, though. Illinois is still in there because they are getting an official visit from Miller this weekend. West Virginia is next on the official visit list on June 11. Indiana is next on June 18. A new name that isn’t in the top five is Michigan State. The Spartans are getting a visit on June 25. Miller’s mind is clearly not made up yet, but the Illini are squarely in the mix.
3. Patrick Kutas
Kutas is a 6-foot-5, 284-pound defensive lineman from Memphis, Tennessee. He is rated as a three-star recruit and ranked as the No. 587 player in the class of 2022.
There was never a top list for Kutas, but he has laid out most of his official visits, which gives you an idea of his top list. The first team up on the official visit tour; Illinois. The Illini are hosting Kutas this weekend. Arkansas is to follow on June 11. Oregon then gets a crack at him on June 18. Louisville is the last scheduled visit right now, and they get Kutas on June 25. It really is amazing how much ground Illinois has made up so quickly. It might be difficult to land Kutas, but we now have the facilities to wow some of these top recruits.
