3. Jaden Schutt – Guard, 6-foot-5, 175-pounds

Illinois basketball went heavy after the No. 2 and No. 3 guards this past recruiting class. We were able to bring in some talented recruits like Luke Goode and Brandi Podziemski. But there is always room for depth and more talent in this area. Snagging a player like Jaden Schutt would be optimal.

Schutt is a 6-foot-5, 175-pound shooting guard from Yorkville Christian High School and resides in Yorkville, Illinois. He is rated as a three-star recruit and ranked as the No. 115 player in the class of 2022. He is also the No. 14 shooting guard in the nation and the No. 3 player coming out of the state of Illinois.

I would venture to say 247Sports has Schutt massively underrated judging by his scholarship offers. He has roughly 17 offers on the table right now and, in addition to Illinois, some of the bigger programs included the likes of Creighton, Michigan State, Ohio State, Xavier and Wisconsin.

From the vibes I get, I believe Schutt will end up with a Big Ten program. Most of the Big Ten teams that have offered him a scholarship are still pursuing him hard, including the Illini. I expect Illinois to be one of the top teams down the stretch for him too.

Schutt has a game that anyone can love. The kid is fearless with the ball from the perimeter. He can hit from anywhere on the court. His shooting mentality is that of someone like Damian Lillard. But Schutt also reminds me a little of Mac McClung with his bounce and ferocity. This kid is a solid package of a player.

I love high-energy guys, and that is what Schutt would bring to Illinois. Brad Underwood has brought quite a few of those players into the program, and they have all been great for the team. Schutt could be next in line.
