After the recruiting “dead” period, Illinois football target Felix Hixon will make his way to Champaign for an official visit on June 11.

Hixon made the news official via Twitter on April 24. The defensive end and 2022 prospect will make his official visit to Champaign on June 11 to get a taste of the Illini program.

Hixon is a 6-foot-4, 280-pound athlete who hails from Jackson, Georgia, and attends Jackson High School. Hixon is a three-star recruit and along with the Illini, he has interest from Wisconsin, South Carolina, Virginia, and Arkansas, to name a few.

As for Jackson’s high school squad, the Red Devils struggled to find consistency during the 2020 season. The team finished 4-5 overall with a 3-2 record at home. Despite falling just short of a playoff berth, the Red Devils edged out three of its four victories by a touchdown or less, which could mean a sign of things to come for the future.

Illinois football made Hixon’s top 10

In a tweet posted April 1, Hixon revealed the news that he had narrowed down his top 10. The Illini was one of his 10 programs. With a year of development left, the Orange and Blue should feel as if Hixon is a priority recruit. Even with the addition of new head coach Bret Bielema, it’s apparent that the southern region remains important for a Big Ten team that is looking to establish its identity.
