Illinois football is starting to really pick up some solid momentum for the class of 2022, and it doesn’t look like it will low down anytime soon.

As of right now, Illinois has five commitments for the 2022 class, with three of the five recruits pledging within the last week. With that being said, it looks like the Illini have two more who could come aboard sometime in the near future, as a couple of the journalists over at 247Sports have put in a Crystal Ball prediction.

On April 20, Jeremey Werner didn’t just put one prediction in, but he came in with two predictions in favor of the Illini. The first was for running back, Jordan Anderson. He followed that up with a prediction for tight end Henry Boyer to come to Illinois.

Following Werner’s prediction, National Recruiting Analyst Allen Trieu put a Crystal Ball prediction in for Anderson to head to Illinois as well. Werner and Trieu have a six out of 10 confidence for Anderson while Werner put in a five out of 10 confidence for Boyer.

Thoughts on the Illinois football team getting two Crystal Ball predictions.

It is exciting to see the Illini continue with their momentum for 2022. Clearly, the focus is on the offensive side of the ball, as all five of the current commitments have been on offense. Anderson and Boyer would add even more talent to the Illini offense.

Anderson is a 6-foot-3, 215-pound running back from Joliet Catholic Academy and resides in Joliet, Illinois. He is rated as a three-star recruit and ranked as the No. 1061 player in the class of 2022. He is also the No. 74 running back in the nation and the No. 20 player in the state of Illinois.

On the other hand, Henry is more of an under-the-radar type of talent. He is a 6-foot-6, 250-pound tight end from Brother Rice High School and resides in Oak Lawn, Illinois. He is rated as a three-star recruit and ranked as the No. 65 tight end in the class of 2022. He is also the No. 17 player coming out of the state of Illinois.

I want both of these players on the Illinois roster for 2022. While we do need to focus on defense a little more for this upcoming class, I still love the offensive talent that is coming in. What I love even more is the fact we are attacking the state of Illinois in the recruiting game.

Two of the most recent commitments, Hank Beatty and Clayton Leonard, are both Illinois products. Anderson and Boyer are in-state recruits as well. This is something we haven’t seen in a long time. The Illini need to start recruiting kids who are from the area and then expand out. I love what Bret Bielema is doing with recruiting right now.

Illinois is building the class of 2022. This is the group of players who will come in and build out the roster so we actually have some depth. Snagging Anderson and Boyer would be a big step in the right direction.
