The Illinois basketball team picked up its third-straight win after defeating the Indiana Hoosiers on the road Tuesday night.

Propelled by a stronger second half, the Illinois Fighting Illini managed to pick up the roadkill despite an ugly first 20 minutes.

Here are four observations from the Illini’s 75-71 victory over the Hoosiers.

1. The Illini have gotten hot at the right time

Things were starting to look not-so-pretty for the Illini after dropping two straight home games.  Illinois would lose to then 7-6 Maryland by a score of 66-63 in their January 10 meeting.

The following game, the Orange and Blue would drop their second home game in a row to then-No. 21 Ohio State by a score of 87-81.

The Illini did not let these two losses faze them, however.  Illinois would respond by winning their next three games.  These games included a 14-point win over Penn State, a gritty win over No. 7 Iowa, and last night’s roadkill at Indiana.

Illinois’ win on Tuesday night may be the most impressive win of this current three-game win streak.

Big Ten Network’s Brian Butch would call this the Illini’s “biggest win of the season” on the B1G Show.  Butch praised how the Illini stepped up on the road despite their star player struggling and fouling out of the game.

This hot streak is only padding up Illinois’ March Madness resumé.  The Illini will look to continue to pad their resumé through the final four weeks of the regular season in what has been an extremely tough conference
