Illinois football focused on building out their offensive weapons for 2021, and they did a pretty good job of accomplishing those goals.

Wide receiver was a weakness for the Illini, but they have since addressed those issues. Prince Green committed to Illinois back on May 3 and has now officially signed on with the Orange and Blue.

Green is a 6-foot-2, 190-pound wide receiver from Griffin High School and resides in Griffin, Georgia. He is rated as a three-star recruit, the No. 1442 player in the class of 2021 and the No. 197 wide receiver in the country. He is also the No. 132 player in the state of Georgia.

Breakdown of Green’s impact on Illinois

Illinois will have some pretty big departures of Josh Imatorbhebhe and Trevon Sidney after this season. These two will depart after Ricky Smalling decided to leave the team before the 2020 campaign even started.

Depth behind those three includes Brian Hightower, Casey Washington and James Frenchie. These three are great players we will have back next season. Illinois is also bringing in Patrick Bryant from the class of 2021.

I believe Green is going to have a chance to enter the Illinois program and contribute from day one. He isn’t going to start in 2021, but he could see some snaps. He would be a prime candidate to play in the first couple of games and then take a redshirt.

With the new coaching staff, hopefully, the wide receiver position becomes a strength. I want to see Green succeed because this kid is talented. I believe he will get to show that talent early on in his career.
