The Illinois basketball team beat the Chicago State Cougars 97-38 on Thursday afternoon.

Illinois beat Chicago State to improve to 2-0. The Illini got a big lead early in the game and never looked back.

The Orange and Blue played well on offense and played even better defense. From the jump, it seemed like the Cougars were outmatched. This win came as no surprise, as the Illini were favored to win this game. Even though multiple Illini players performed well, only one is getting the MVP of this game.

The MVP of this game goes to Ayo Dosunmu, who had a good outing on Thanksgiving.

Dosunmu’s stats consisted of 22 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals. He shot well going 8-of-13 from the field but failed to hit a deep shot going 0-of-2 from three-point range. He also got to the free throw line frequently shooting 6-of-7 from the charity stripe.

Other players such as Trent Frazier, Kofi Cockburn, and Andre Curbelo played well and could’ve received the MVP of this game too.  But Dosunmu played well on both ends of the court. He was consistent throughout this game and was a big reason why Illinois won by such a large margin.

Illinois is now 2-0 and have won both games of this MTE. This Illinois basketball team will face off against the Ohio Bobcats Friday afternoon to finish off the three-game run. I can’t wait to see what Dosunmu and these Illini players are able to do against the Bobcats.
