3. Brandon Peters had his most complete game

Illinois received Brandon Peters via the transfer market last season. The former Michigan quarterback won the starting job from day one and was the best option we had.

Peters had some good games throughout his 2019 campaign, but those good games were against below-average teams. There were only two games in 2019 where Peters had a 60-percent completion percentage or better. Those two games were against Akron and UConn.

For the 2019 season, Peters averaged a completion percentage of 54.6-percent and was even worse than that in the Big Ten. His best completion percentage in Big Ten play was 54.5-percent and that was against Rutgers.

So, I think it is fair to say Peters is not an accurate quarterback. But, on Saturday against Nebraska, Peters performed well and had his best game since coming to Champaign. He threw for 205 yards and 1 touchdown, but more importantly, Peters was 18-of-25 passing, which comes out to 72-percent.

This was a huge win over Nebraska, and Peters should get a lot of credit. He performed better than he ever has as a starting quarterback. This kid has a backup quarterback breathing down his neck, and he comes out and performs amazingly. This was a career win for Peters and will hopefully be a great sign of things to come.
