With 15 commitments on the board, the Illinois football team is boasting some talented recruits coming in from the class of 2021.

The most talented on paper is Brody Wisecarver. The 6-foot-4, 317-pound offensive lineman out of St. Louis, Missouri is rated as a three-star recruit and ranked as the No. 458 player in the class of 2021 and the No. 23 offensive guard in the nation.

Landing Wisecarver was huge for the Orange and Blue as he is a talented blocker from a very fertile recruiting ground. The commitment on May 23 to the Illini was big news, and the pledge is as strong as ever today. The talented guard spoke with the Writing Illini and reconfirmed his commitment when asked if he was fully committed to Illinois.

“Yes, I am.”

Wisecarver’s commitment to Illinois has a chance to be sealed up this December when the early national signing period starts for college football. This is something that the St. Louis native is excited about.

“Yes, I am signing as soon as possible.”

According to 247Sports, Wisecarver still plays for De Smet High School, but that isn’t the case anymore as the talented guard moved and played for Osage for his final season of high school football.

The reason behind the change? He wanted to graduate early.

“I am not at De Smet anymore. I transferred so that I could play this season and graduate early. I am very proud of them and am expecting them to get another ring.”

The offseason started a little early this year for Wisecarver as his Osage team fell in districts. He is working on his game and looks to continue to improve. Coming to Illinois early is something that is on his mind as well.

“I plan on getting to Illinois as early as possible. I am mainly staying in the gym lifting, doing cardio and some offensive line training since Osage lost in districts.”

The work ethic of Wisecarver shows through in his actions and by national notoriety. You aren’t a top 500 recruit without working your butt off. Becoming a dominant offensive lineman didn’t happen overnight either.

“I was born with size and, luckily, a father who wanted the best for me. He has pushed me to do better and be the best I can be. It is not that I looked up to him, but I had him always pushing me to be and do better.”

A father always wanting better for his son and a build that you can’t teach, Wisecarver is set to be a great player at the next level. Illinois has a solid commitment from one of the top offensive linemen in the country and, soon, that commitment will be a signing. This kid is going to be special.
