No. 2 Guard

Starter: Adam Miller

Another youngster who is going to cut his teeth this upcoming season is Adam Miller. Miller, the 6-foot-3, 170-pound shooting guard, is rated as a four-star recruit and ranked as the No. 35 player in the class of 2020. Illinois fans should be excited to see this kid coming into the program.

Miller will enter the Illinois basketball team as a starter. He should take over the No. 3 guard spot as a freshman alongside Ayo Dosunmu and Trent Frazier. This would be a trio for the ages. But Ayo and Frazier are both departing after this season, meaning Miller will be left to lead this Illinois team to glory as a sophomore. I believe he should be one of the main scorers, as Miller should move to the No. 2 guard spot as a sophomore.

Backup: Jacob Grandison

Miller will only be in year two, so having some experience behind him to help spell minutes would be great for the Illini. That is why I have Jacob Grandison as the primary backup to Miller at the No. 2 spot.

Grandison transferred into the Illinois basketball team last season before sitting out the year due to NCAA transfer rules. Before coming to Champaign, the 6-foot-6, 205-pound guard spent two years at Holy Cross. During his sophomore season, Grandison averaged 13.9 points, 5 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. I want to see some of those numbers as a backup to Miller. Illinois would be in good hands if that happened.

Recruit #2

Illinois has three scholarships remaining, and I believe using one for 2021 on another guard would be ideal. Miller will depart, most likely, after two seasons. Grandison would depart because he is a senior as well. So, this leaves a huge hole in the Illinois backcourt.
