Ahead of his November 15 decision date, it looks like the Illinois basketball team is making up some ground on star recruit Tyty Washington.

Washington is a 6-foot-3, 185-pound point guard out of Compass Prep in Chandler, Arizona. 247Sports has the most favorable ranking of the talented guard as he is a four-star recruit and the No. 57 player in the class of 2021. 247Sports hasn’t updated their Crystal Ball, though.

One recruiting site that is starting to update things is Rivals. They have Washington as a four-star recruit who is the No. 86 player in the class of 2021. While Rivals’ rankings are a little lower, Washington is still squarely in the top 100 for the class. But Rivals has also updated their Forecast for where Washington will end up landing.

Over the past two days, two of the Rivals “experts” have flipped their pick on what school will snag Washington. Rob Cassidy had Creighton as the eventual winner and Hod Rabino had Arizona State winning out. On Monday, Cassidy flipped his pick from the Blue Jays to the Illini. Rabino was close behind, flipping his pick from the Sun Devils to Illinois on Tuesday.

This is extremely exciting news if you are an Illinois fan. Washington is a player who would help the Orange and Blue tremendously. He can do everything on the court and would be a nice one-two punch with Andre Curbelo in the backcourt.

In a matter of days, Illinois could be adding to their class of 2021. The Illini already have Luke Goode signed up who will also be signing the following day on November 16. Momentum is really starting to build for this Illini group. Snagging Washington would be huge, and then we would be onto the next big-time recruit. Who could that be? Maybe a big man? We will see.
