Illinois saw tremendous success during the 2019-20 campaign, but one area that was a struggle was three-point shooting.
The Illini were arguably one of the most ineffective three-point shooting teams in the nation. I am not just speculating either. The stats prove this statement.
At least the Illini knew they weren’t a good three-point shooting team, though. Illinois shot 18 three-point shots per game, which ranked No. 301 out of 353 teams in college basketball.
The Orange and Blue weren’t hitting their three-point shots when they shot them either. For the 2019-20 campaign, Illinois only made 30.3-percent of their shots from the three-point arc, which ranked No. 311 in the nation.
Since the Illini were one of the worst teams in the nation in three-point shooting, that means they were one of the worst in the Big Ten as well. They were dead last in the conference in three-point shooting percentage and were No. 12 in three-point field goals attempted.
Needless to say, if Illinois could improve their three-point shooting, the team could be an even bigger threat. That could possibly happen with some of the additions to the team this offseason.
I am mainly looking at three players who could help Illinois get their three-point shooting on track.
Here are three players who could improve Illini three-point shooting.
