Illinois Basketball: Projected Illini lineup with the dream class of 2021
No. 2 Guard
Starter: Adam Miller
A lot of players on this projected lineup for 2021-22 haven’t played a single second for the Illini. Adam Miller is one of those players. Miller comes into the Illinois program from the class of 2020. He was rated as a four-star recruit who was the No. 33 player in the class of 2020. His talents will help take Illinois from a good team to a great team.
Miller should come in this season and be a starter for the Illini from day one. He will be at the No. 3 spot most likely as Brad Underwood likes to go small. But by his sophomore season, I have Miller slotted in at the starting No. 2 guard spot. This will give him more scoring flexibility as Trent Frazier will have moved on. I think this is the best spot for Miller in what could be his final season with the team.
Backup: Luke Goode
The second member of the class of 2021 on this list is Luke Goode. The only difference between Goode and Tyty Washington is the fact Goode is committed to the Illini already and is projected to sign during the early signing period.
Landing a northeast Indiana player has never happened in the history of Illinois basketball. Goode comes into the Illinois basketball program as a four-star recruit who is the No. 97 player in the class of 2021. It wouldn’t shock me to see Goode play alongside Miller at times, but the kid is going to be a nice complement to Miller when he needs some rest. Much like the point guard position, Illinois’ depth is just going to be silly at the No. 2 guard spot.
