The Illinois basketball recruiting train keeps on rolling, as the program offered talented power forward Mady Traore for the 2022 class.

Traore is a rising junior, presenting a 6-foot-11, 195-pound frame at the power forward position. He hails from Cumberland, Maryland and attends Bishop Walsh School.

According to Stockriser’s Jake Weingarten, Illinois becomes the latest program to offer Traore as his recruitment continues to grow upon the beginning of his junior season in November.

In addition to the Illini, Traore has received interest from several schools. Arizona, Arizona State, Auburn, and DePaul are also in the mix at the moment.

Traore is originally from France and has showcased significant development at all five positions, showcasing his versatile basketball ability and playing at a high level on a regular basis.

Even though his junior season hasn’t begun yet, Traore is quickly gaining some traction across major recruiting platforms, including Rivals.

The Yahoo! Sports-hosted site has the Frenchmen as a four-star recruit and one of the nation’s most intriguing prospects. His height and ball awareness are two of his biggest strengths, and in a Brad Underwood offensive system, these keys are vital to on-court success for years to come.

The Orange and Blue are coming off its best season in over a decade, as fans and alumni are waiting in anticipation for a top-10 team to finally take the court next month at the State Farm Center.

With nearly the entire starting offense back, including perennial superstars Kofi Cockburn and Ayo Dosunmu, the expectations are immensely high in Champaign.

In four years, Underwood will have taken the Illini from the depths of disparity to on the verge of contending for a national title in 2020-2021. Traore could fit the identity of a program-changing player when the departures of Trent Frazier, Dosunmu, and Cockburn occur next spring and a new era officially begins.
