The list of potential recruits to come aboard the Illinois basketball class of 2021 is getting shorter by the week.

Some of the bigger names Illinois has had their eye on over the past year have included Max Christie, Brandon Weston and David Jones. Christie picked Michigan State. Weston decided to commit to Seton Hall. Jones chose a school in the state of Illinois but it was DePaul.

You can add another name to the list of players who didn’t pick Illinois from the class of 2021. Jordan Nesbitt decided to pick Memphis over Illinois on Thursday afternoon. This decision ended up being not surprising at all considering the momentum seemed to have been on the Tigers’ side for a little while. But it does narrow the options down for the Illini.

As players continue to commit, the list of recruits the Illinois basketball program seems to have strong ties with looks to be getting smaller and smaller. With one commitment already for 2021 – Luke Goode – Illinois needs to build on the great snag. The top 100 shooting guard from Homestead will need teammates around him if we want to continue building this program.

Thankfully, there are a few options I want for 2021. Illinois can still land some big fish.

Here are the top three options after the Illini miss on Jordan Nesbitt.
