Illinois Basketball: 3 reasons the Illini need Jordan Nesbitt
It was a very informative weekend if you are a fan of the Illinois basketball team.
The Illini class of 2021 started strong with Luke Goode but has cooled as of late. Goode is the lone commitment as of right now, but more information came out this weekend in regards to the timeline for talented wing, Jordan Nesbitt.
Nesbitt, a 6-foot-6, 180-pound small forward, announced via Twitter that he is cutting his list down to just three programs on September 17. He will then proceed to make a commitment on his birthday, October 1.
Back on August 7, the St. Louis, Missouri native trimmed his list down to 11 teams and kept Memphis, Iowa State, Saint Louis, Virginia Tech, Arkansas, Texas, Alabama, Nebraska, Maryland, Seton Hall and Illinois all alive for his commitment. Now Nesbitt wants to speed up his recruitment and button things up before his high school season begins.
Illinois’ chances of landing Nesbitt might be lower than what they were just months ago. Five different “experts” on 247Sports has Saint Louis as the eventual landing spot for the talented wing. But I am not so sure that will be the case. We will know who is the mix by this Thursday, though.
With that being said, Illinois has some great selling points to propose to Nesbitt. This program is winning now. They have talent on this team to continue winning. I believe Illinois should be the landing spot for Nesbitt.
