No. 2 Guard

Starter: Adam Miller (SO)

Another spot that is pretty much locked up for the 2021-22 campaign would be the No. 2 guard spot. This role would obviously go to Adam Miller. He is someone who should see a large number of minutes as a freshman and then will take over the team as a sophomore in 2021.

As a 6-foot-3, 170-pound shooting guard, Miller should fit in seamlessly with the rest of the Illini crew. His on-court mentality is that of a killer. Scoring will be Miller’s forte as Illinois will need him as the primary scorer entering his sophomore season. With Ayo Dosunmu departing following the 2020-21 campaign, Miller is going to be the next leader to step up. Don’t worry, Illini Nation, we are in good hands. The top 40 player in the class of 2020 should be able to lead us back to the postseason.

Backup: Luke Goode (FR)

Illinois has one player committed for the class of 2021. Luke Goode pledged his services to the Illini back on April 17 of this year and is someone who sent shockwaves through the college basketball world. Illinois wasn’t successfully recruiting northern Indiana until Goode decided to come to Champaign.

Goode is leaving the high school ranks as a 6-foot-5, 175-pound force to be reckoned with. I am slotting the kid in as the primary backup at the No. 2 spot. With his pick-and-pop abilities, Goode should give opposing teams a headache when trying to cover him. On top of his great technique, Goode can also hit from long range. He isn’t a spot shooter either. Goode can create his own shot, which is something very unique.
