4. Jimmy Valsin

I mentioned earlier that landing Cameron Bonner would be great because he is a playmaker. Illinois was already able to land someone like that with Chevy Brenson committing. He brings size to the table too. I want another big target on the outside to go with Brenson, though. That is why I want Jimmy Valsin.

Valsin is a 6-foot-3, 180-pound wide receiver from Bowie High School and resides in Arlington, Texas. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 803 player in the class of 2021 and the No. 118 wide receiver in the nation. He is also the No. 113 player in the state of Illinois.

The recruitment of Valsin has been pretty quiet lately as well. He hasn’t done much since he cut his list down to just eight teams back on June 1. The eight teams to make his list back then were Utah, Colorado, Syracuse, Oregon State, Indiana, Kansas State, Houston and Illinois.

I can’t tell you if that list is the same today as it was back in June. But I would assume that Valsin is waiting until the end of the season to make any decisions on his recruitment. This could end up being a big one for the Illini.

Much like Bonner, Valsin is being recruited by Andrew Hayes-Stoker. He is an ace recruiter who can pull great players out of the state of Texas. Having Coach Stoker on the scene gives me great hope we can pull in a top 1000 player like Valsin. He would have early playing time too.
