1. Cameron Bonner

Illinois wants to bring in playmakers, especially since the wide receiver corps will be essentially gutted after the 2020 campaign. Bringing in instant impact players would be huge for the program. That is why I want someone like Cameron Bonner.

Bonner is a 5-foot-11, 173-pound wide receiver from St. Thomas High School and resides in Houston, Texas. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 639 player in the class of 2021 and the No. 101 wide receiver in the nation. He is also the No. 91 player in the state of Texas.

The Illini are in the race to land the talented pass catcher. Bonner released his top six just a few days ago and kept Arizona, Utah, Texas A&M, Houston, Pittsburgh and Illinois all in the mix.

I actually looked today and someone from 247Sports has a 2 out of 10 confidence rating that Bonner will end up with Houston. This would make sense considering he is from Houston, Texas, but I don’t think any of the six teams are out of the running.

The things that give me the most confidence Illinois can still land Bonner is the fact Andrew Hayes-Stoker is recruiting him, and there will be plenty of room on the depth chart to play from day one. Having these two factors on our side, I think the Illini can come away with another commitment from the state of Texas.
