Illinois Basketball: Illini lineup with Ayo Dosunmu, Kofi Cockburn returning

The Illinois basketball team received the best news in the world when Ayo Dosunmu and Kofi Cockburn both decided to come back for another year.

On Friday night, things were calm and most of the news was about the Illinois football team and their recruiting. That is when the Illinois basketball team got a huge shakeup. Ayo Dosunmu posted a video that lasted nearly two minutes. By the end of the video, Illinois received back their top guard and Illini Nation had goosebumps everywhere.

On the same night, Kofi Cockburn announced that he would be making his decision on Saturday afternoon. All morning, Illinois fans were waiting and hoping that the big man would come back to Champaign. About 45 minutes before his expected announcement time, Kofi released the image. He is coming back.

Illinois is now a national title contending team with Ayo and Kofi returning to Champaign. It would shock me if they didn’t at least make the Elite 8. I think we have the best team in the nation. We have the talent. We have the experience. We have the glue guys. It is all there for us to make a run at a title.

These two talented players coming back does change up the projected lineup, though.
