The Illinois basketball program has had some impressive centers come through Champaign, and I want to tell you who the top three centers are of all-time.

The center position for the Illini probably has the least amount of talent out of all five positions. But there still have been talented players suit up at the No. 5 spot. I want to add that there will be honorable mention spots for people who did not make the top three.

To make this list, the criteria will be the same as past lists. It is not a requirement for a player to have a postseason appearance but it does help to have one. The most important requirement for this list is to have made an All-Big Ten team or a regular-season award.

I will also take things into consideration like the impact the player had on winning during his time in Champaign. All-time statistical categories will matter, but it will not play as big of a role as the other things I named.

The first honorable mention spot goes to Nnanna Egwu. He spent four years at Illinois and averaged 5.5 points and 1.5 blocks per game. The reason he didn’t make this list is that he never had a postseason appearance and the lack of accomplishments. The other honorable mention spot goes to Marcus Griffin. He played two years in an Orange and Blue uniform. Griffin averaged 11 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game for his career. The reason he didn’t make the list is because of his lack of individual accomplishments.

Without further ado, here are my top three Illini centers of all-time.
