The Korn Ferry Tour teed off in San Antonio this week, and Illinois golf had a few former players competing.

Here are how the former Illini players fared this weekend.

Nick Hardy – T18 (-8)

Former Illinois great Nick Hardy continued his hot streak on the Korn Ferry Tour this week with a top 20 finish and a three-round total of -8. This has become a trend for the talented Northbrook native.

Hardy has now finished in the top 35 in seven straight events with three of those being top 10 finishes. He has only missed two cuts out of the 10 events he has played in 2020 as well.

The thing to keep an eye on is the Korn Ferry Tour points standings. The top 25 in the standings at the end of the season get their PGA Tour card for 2021. As of right now, Hardy sits No. 19 in the points standings. If he can continue playing top 30 golf, there is no doubt he will earn full-time PGA Tour status moving forward.

Scott Langley – T58 (-1)

Scott Langley also made the cut in the TPC San Antonio Championship. The highlight of his tournament came in the second round where he shot a three-under, 69. This solid round enabled Langley to make the cut and finish in a tie for 58th place.

Every cut matters for Langley as the former Illini legend is just outside of the top 75 in the Korn Ferry Tour rankings. He needs to get in the top 75 to have a chance at the second wave of PGA Tour cards that are handed out.

DA Points – CUT (+5)

There were a few former Illinois golfers who tried to compete but could not make the cut in San Antonio. DA Points followed up a first-round 74 with a 75 in the second round to shoot a two-day total of +5.

Brian Campbell – CUT (+5)

Brian Campbell was in the running to make the cut at this Korn Ferry Tour event after a first-round 73. The cut only ended up being even par, so Campbell was just one shot outside of that mark. But a second-round 76 put the young golfer in the same boat as Points with a two-day total of +5.

Luke Guthrie – CUT (+11)

The final Illinois golfer in this event was Luke Guthrie. This just was not Guthrie’s event as he struggled out of the gate. A round one 78 put the former Illini behind the eight ball. He followed that tough round with a second-round 77. Guthrie would miss the cut with a two-day total of +11.
