The Illinois basketball team has hit a snag when it comes to recruiting the class of 2021.

When the Illini landed Luke Goode back on April 17, it was a big deal. Goode is a northeast Indiana recruit, and Illinois has never snagged someone from this region of the state. He is also a top 100 recruit, which makes the start to the class of 2021 pretty special.

But Illinois needs to continue this positive momentum. We have plenty of scholarships to offer for 2021, and we will need to replenish a ton of talent. Not only will we lose Ayo Dosunmu and Kofi Cockburn either this year or after this upcoming season, but there are no guarantees that Adam Miller is a two-year player. We may need a complete overhaul by 2021.

There are quite a few players left out there for the Orange and Blue to snag. We have been reported in being involved with so many recruits. I would assume we land someone relatively soon. But there hasn’t been much movement lately, and that has to do with the pandemic and dead periods being extended.

With that being said, Brad Underwood has a chance to put together an incredible class.

Here are the top five targets left for the Illini in the class of 2021.
