8. Trent Frazier (Old: 4-star/0.9392 – New: 4-star/0.9651)

Throughout my time of watching the Illinois basketball team, I have developed favorite players. A couple of players who come to mind include Cory Bradford and Mike Tisdale. I would also include Trent Frazier in that mix.

Frazier was a 6-foot-2, 170-pound point guard coming out of Wellington High School and residing in West Palm Beach, Florida. He was rated as a four-star recruit who was the No. 109 player in the class of 2017 and the No. 24 point guard in the nation. He also had a composite rating of 0.9392.

In the three years Frazier has been with the Illini, he has been nothing short of amazing. This kid came into the program as a freshman and averaged 12.5 points, 3.1 assists, 1.8 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game. He has made an impact on the program ever since.

Frazier took a step back in stats this past season because it was what he needed to do to help the team. Ayo Dosunmu and Kofi Cockburn needed the ball more, so Frazier scaled his shooting back. I believe this goes unnoticed by many people.

I can’t believe we are already into Frazier’s senior season. Time has gone too quickly. He entered Illinois as a four-star recruit with a rating of 0.9392. I think he has earned a bump up from that number. I have him as a four-star with a rating of 0.9651. This kid is one of the best to ever do it for the Illini.
