Illinois Basketball: Rerating every Illini recruit from the 2010s
37. Devin Langford (Old: 3-star/0.8831 – New: 2-star/0.7211)
The class of 2011 brought a variety of talented players to the Illinois program. On paper, it looked like one of the deeper classes since the coveted title run in 2005. Toward the bottom of that class was Devin Langford.
Langford was a 6-foot-7, 185-pound small forward coming out of Lee High School and residing in Huntsville, Alabama. He was rated as a three-star recruit who was the No. 172 player in the class of 2011 and the No. 40 small forward in the nation. He also had a 247Sports composite rating of 0.8831, which puts him more toward a four-star than a two-star.
During the preseason of his freshman year, Langford suffered a broken finger. He was probably going to be redshirted anyways, but this injury helped expedite the process. As a redshirt freshman in 2012, Langford had a chance to play in 22 games for the Illini. He ended the season averaging 0.5 points, 0.8 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game.
After one season of playing for the Illini, Langford decided to transfer out of the program. The eventual landing spot would be Kentucky Wesleyan where Langford would have a solid career. He finished his three seasons with the Panthers averaging 11.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.
Langford was a three-star with a rating of 0.8831 coming into the college ranks. He didn’t spend much time at Illinois, but he wasn’t that highly rated of a player. I would adjust him to a two-star and a rating of 0.7211.
