The Illinois football team has added another member to the class of 2021.

On Wednesday afternoon, Dylan Rosiek took to Twitter to announce that he has committed to the University of Illinois. In the commitment tweet, Rosiek thanks a variety of people and finishes the announcement off with the commitment.

Rosiek is a 6-foot-1, 210-pound inside linebacker from East Lake High School and resides in Tarpon Springs, Florida. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 54 inside linebacker in the nation and the No. 176 player in the state of Florida.

This was a solid pickup for the Orange and Blue. Rosiek was starting to pile up offers from programs across the country, such as Buffalo and Army. But the Illini were able to swing in with an offer to the young linebacker back on June 2. About two weeks later, Illinois has a new linebacker on the roster.

The Illinois class of 2021 is starting to build. Rosiek now adds to the class which consists of eight freshmen committed and two transfers who will be eligible when the 2021 campaign rolls around. This is also the second linebacker to commit, the other being Trevor Moffitt.

Where does Rosiek fit in with the Illinois depth chart?

In year one, I see Rosiek redshirting. This would probably be best for the kid as he starts getting the speed of the game down and the playbook memorized. Illinois should be fine at linebacker with players like Shammond Cooper, Lavar Gardner and Derrick Smith leading the way, among others.

As a redshirt freshman, Rosiek should start seeing some snaps. I don’t expect him to start for the first couple of years with the program, but he still has a chance to be an impact player. By the final three years he is with the Illini, I see Rosiek moving into a more prominent role, potentially starting for the program.

I love this pickup by the Illini. I think Rosiek has the chance to be a solid player for the Orange and Blue. Lovie likes to develop players, and this addition is right up his alley.
