4. Ramel Lloyd Jr.

The Orange and Blue didn’t just stick to targeting players from the Midwest the last few days. Brad Underwood and the Illinois coaching staff were eyeing various players throughout the country. They even handed out a few scholarship offers. One of those offers went to Ramel Lloyd Jr.

Lloyd is a 6-foot-4, 175-pound shooting guard from Calabasas High School and resides in Calabasas, California. He is rated as a four-star recruit who is the No. 51 player in the class of 2022 and the No. 10 shooting guard in the nation. He is also the No. 7 player in the state of California.

ESPN scouts think way more highly of Lloyd than other recruiting sites. The sites I am looking at don’t have the kid in the top 65 for 2022. Lloyd checks in as the No. 51 player according to the new 2022 ESPN 60. This doesn’t surprise me.

Lloyd has everything you want in a basketball player, but the one thing that stands out the most to me is his drive. He wants to get better even though he is still a top 60 player in his class. The confidence he shows on the basketball court is infectious. Lloyd will be a great addition to any team he picks.

There are a ton of teams already in the mix for Lloyd. He has 17 scholarship offers and that number is sure to increase. Illinois recently got in the mix for him too. I can’t tell where Lloyd stands with a decision, but it is most likely way too early. I want this kid on the team, though. We need someone like him for the future.
