Who is 2021 prospect and Illinois football target Dylan Rosiek?

Dylan Rosiek is a 6-foot-1, 220-pound inside linebacker from East Lake High School in East Lake, Florida. Rosiek recently received an offer from the Orange and Blue on June 2, adding another school to an extensive list. Along with Illinois, Rosiek has received interest from Air Force, Army, and Buffalo.

Rosiek is part of a rising Eagles squad that finished a game above .500 last season, stumbling to a 6-5 record. One of the few bright spots came when Rosiek registered 18 solo tackles in a three-game span, sparking a three-game win streak during the season’s midway point.

The Tale of the Tape

Despite Rosiek’s lack of national recognition, the inside linebacker possesses potential that could pay dividends for Illinois.

From the film, Rosiek has a good awareness of where the ball goes and finishes each play all the way through. He also is not afraid to lay a massive hit on a running back, quarterback, or wide receiver. The Illini have struggled against the run in previous seasons, so his addition, along with Sedarius McConnell’s outside linebacker presence, could create a unique tandem for years to come.

Rosiek finished the season with 117 total tackles, eight forced fumbles, eight sacks and one interception.

With Rosiek’s senior season approaching, growth and improvement is key in order for him to catch more people’s attention throughout the 2020 season.

Illinois returns the majority of last year’s team, as they hope to continue their rebuild after a RedBox Bowl defeat last winter. The Illini get the benefit of an easier Big Ten schedule with major home games against Iowa and Ohio State to show for it.

The 2020 season is crucial since the 2021 class is currently outlooked as slim, so the more the on-field product continues to improve, the interest increases. Rosiek is a piece to the puzzle for future program success.
