On Sunday afternoon, the Illinois football team landed their second commitment for the class of 2021.
Defensive back depth will be a concern for the Illini after the 2020 season. But Illinois addressed the issue on Sunday afternoon when they landed defensive back, Prince Green. Green is the second player to commit to the Illini in the class of 2021 and the third player to commit to the program this week.
Green took to Twitter to announce that he was committing to the Orange and Blue. He is a 6-foot-2, 190-pound athlete from Griffin High School in Georgia. Green is rated as a three-star recruit who is ranked as the No. 1,237 player in the class of 2021 and the No. 83 player in the state of Georgia. This commitment was good because Illinois has two defensive backs graduating after the upcoming campaign.
Green had multiple teams vying for his commitment. Teams such as Kentucky and Minnesota were also in the running for the talented defensive back. Based on his tape, Green is a defensive back who can thrive in zone and man coverage.

I do think Green is more of a zone corner because he likes to read the quarterbacks eyes. Green also possesses the skills to play at wide receiver too. So, if Illinois ever needs him to play on offense, he could.
Overall, this was a good pick-up for the Illini as Green will add depth to a much-needed position. He is a player who will come into the program and be able to dominate at defensive back, but he can also play other roles as well. Green is a great building piece for the future.
