3. Arizona Cardinals

I think one of the teams who could win the Super Bowl in 2020 is the Arizona Cardinals. This team is ready to burst onto the scene, especially with some of their offseason moves. But their running back positions is a mystery right now.

Heading into the 2020 campaign, the projected starting running back for the Cardinals is Kenyan Drake. While Drake is a nice player, he isn’t someone who is going to be a Pro Bowler anytime soon. Through four years in the NFL, he is only averaging 820.5 scrimmage yards per season. I do think he starts most of the games for Arizona this upcoming season, though.

The depth at running back for Arizona is a concern too. The backup to Drake is projected to be Chase Edmonds. He filled in for an injured David Johnson last season, but he isn’t much in the way of a receiving back. Edmonds only had 12 receptions for 105 yards in 2019. While he did average 5.1 yards per carry, he only rushed the ball 60 times.

Behind Edmonds is DJ Foster. He saw action in six games last season but didn’t record any stats. He is essentially just a placeholder for another running back to come in and take his spot. This is where Reggie Corbin could come into play.

The Cardinals have little stability at running back. I think drafting or signing someone like Corbin would be a great idea because he is a dual-threat running back. He can come in and be a solid No. 3 option. I could see him working his way up to the backup role before the season ends as well. If Arizona could stabilize the running back position, they may shock some people this year.
