1. Los Angeles Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers are going through some big changes in 2020. They lost their long-time quarterback in Phillip Rivers. They also have a depleted backfield too. With Melvin Gordon departing for Denver, Austin Ekeler takes the reins.

Ekeler is a solid running back who is mainly a player who can catch the ball out of the backfield. He averaged a solid 4.2 yards per carry in 2019, but his 92 catches for 993 yards is what really stands out about his game. Clearly, this is a Chargers team that wants a player in the backfield who can both run and catch the ball.

The only player behind Ekeler on the depth chart is Justin Jackson. While Jackson did rush for 6.9 YPC last season, the sample size is too small to really judge how good this kid can be in the future. He didn’t do much in the passing game either.

There aren’t proven commodities behind Ekeler in the backfield. The Chargers offense is geared toward a dual-threat running back as well. I believe that is why Reggie Corbin would be a good choice to head out to Los Angeles.

Corbin has proved throughout his Illinois career that he can run and catch the ball. His best season came during his junior year where he rushed for 1,085 yards and caught 16 passes for 176 yards. I believe the Chargers need more depth. They need someone who can come in for a couple of snaps a game and make an impact. Corbin would be a great option.
