1. Miami Dolphins

There is a trend developing about which team could use former Illini the most. The trending team is the Miami Dolphins. They were statistically one of the worst teams in the NFL in a lot of categories.

One of the Dolphins weakest positions is at defensive end. Their roster reflects how bad their numbers were last season. Just in sacks alone, Miami was dead last in the NFL with 1.4 sacks per game. This number needs to improve, and that is why I think Oluwole Betiku Jr. could be a great fit.

The Dolphins are running a 3-4 defense, so the defensive end positions become even more important. Their depth chart is pretty weak right now. Their best defensive end is their first-round draft pick from 2019, Christian Wilkins. He put up 56 tackles and 2 sacks in 2019.

The other projected starter for Miami heading into the upcoming campaign is Avery Moss. He played in 11 games last season for the Dolphins but only managed 25 tackles and failed to record a sack. I do like backup Taco Charlton, though. He recorded five sacks last season for the Dolphins.

But those three defensive ends are it for Miami. The other projected backup is Zach Sieler who was a defensive tackle last season and played sparingly for the Baltimore Ravens. The Dolphins are in serious need of defensive end help.

Betiku could come in and make an impact in his first couple of years with his athletic ability. He isn’t a polished player by any means, but he is beast on the line and proved that with Illinois. I could see him coming in and being a No. 2 backup to Moss. He would improve the Dolphins depth immensely.
