2. DJ Carton

There are a couple of players on this list who have been quiet with their recruitments. One of the players who hasn’t had much come out about him is DJ Carton.

Carton is transferring out of the Ohio State program where things just didn’t seem to fit well for the young guard. He averaged 23.9 minutes per game and, in that time, he averaged 10.4 points, 3 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game.

There is no doubt in my mind that whatever team snags Carton will instantly be a contender. This kid is one of the best players in the nation now, and he was also a top 40 recruit coming out of high school. But who is in the running to land him?

Since Carton first announced he was transferring back in mid-March, there hasn’t been anything concrete on a top list or anything like that. The teams that contact him when he announced was long and included Illinois, though. It wouldn’t shock me to see the Illini in the top six or so for Carton when it is all said and done.

I think Carton would be a huge pickup for the Orange and Blue. This kid is a superstar and we will need guard help a couple of years from now. The great part about Carton is the fact we can land him and then he has to sit a year due to transfer rules. Illinois would then unleash him for the 2021-22 campaign. National title here we come.
