2. Terrell Gomez

Transfers are entering the portal by the day. Just because you miss out on one talented player doesn’t mean there won’t be another popping up on the radar within a day or two. The most recent transfer Illinois is after right now is Terrell Gomez.

Coming out of Inglewood High School in California, Gomez wasn’t being looked at by big-time DI programs. He had offers, but he wasn’t being recruited then like he is being recruited now. He finally settled on Cal State Northridge as his spot to play basketball.

The three seasons with the Matadors have been sensational. As a freshman, Gomez averaged 11.7 points, 3.6 assists and 2.4 rebounds per game. Those are solid numbers for a player just coming into the college ranks. The next two seasons would blow the socks off people, though.

Gomez managed to average 19.2 points, 2.8 assists and 2.1 rebounds per game as a sophomore. Those numbers wouldn’t drop during his junior campaign either. He still put up 19.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game last year.

I would say Gomez is probably a top three transfer on the market right now. The fact he is a graduate transfer and can play right away means he is even more desirable. It was just announced yesterday that Gomez was in the transfer portal. The Illini have already contacted him. I would love to add that big-time scoring to the roster, especially considering he is shooting 43.9-percent from the field and 44-percent from three-point range.
