The Illinois basketball program has lost some talent, but the offseason brings the transfer portal to replenish some of the players who departed.

Illinois has used the transfer portal to their advantage in years past. Jacob Grandison and Austin Hutcherson will be joining the team this upcoming season. This past year, Andres Feliz and Kipper Nichols both helped the Illini get back to the NCAA tournament for the first time in years.

We are now moving onto a new offseason and the transfer portal is heating up. Illinois did lose both Tevian Jones and Alan Griffin to transfer since the season concluded. That opens up two spots that were much-needed for the Orange and Blue. But how are we going to replace these two talented players?

Over the past few weeks, the Illini have been contacting players who have entered the transfer portal. The Illinois name has been mentioned with a variety of talented transfers from all over the country. Brad Underwood knows what he wants and how close we are to making the NCAA tournament for the second consecutive season.

Snagging one of these transfers is priority number one right now for this program. We need to build more depth on the roster. A couple of transfers would accomplish this goal.

Here are the top 7 transfers the Illini are pursuing.
