The Coronavirus isn’t stopping the Illinois football program from pursuing some top talent in the recruiting field.

The class of 2022 is a little way down the road, but it is a great idea to start building relationships early. Illinois is always looking for more help on the defensive line. That is why one of their most recent scholarship offers was to Jimmy Scott.

Scott is a 6-foot-3, 250-pound strong-side defensive end from St. Francis High School and resides in Buffalo, New York. He isn’t rated or ranked by the recruiting sites yet, but Scott does have a ton of recruiting attention already.

It looks like Scott has roughly five scholarship offers and they are all by big programs. The list right now includes Ole Miss, Boston College, Syracuse, Rutgers and Illinois. That list will surely continue to grow as time goes on as well.

There is a reason Scott has a handful of solid scholarship offers and more to come down the road. This kid is a beast on the football field. He plays running back and defensive end at the high school level and excels at both roles.

It looks like teams are recruiting Scott as a defensive end. He has solid speed to get around the offensive tackle, but his strength is what impresses me the most at this position. He has the ability to throw an offensive tackle around. That is a huge asset to have as a pass rusher. I also like how he has some technique at the high school level. Usually, kids are pretty raw coming into the college ranks. Scott has some moves he can continue to hone.

Personally, I love to see Illinois make him a running back in college. Watching him move on the field is incredible. He reminds me so much of a Derrick Henry or Leonard Fournette. The power is just absolutely impressive.

No matter the position Scott plays, I love this offer by the Illini. If we could get a beast like him into the program, the future would continue to be bright for this program.
