A big-time accolade has been earned by a big-time Illinois basketball commit for 2020.

On Thursday morning, Gatorade announced their 2019-2020 Illinois Boys Basketball Player of the Year Award. There are a ton of talented in-state players who could have won this award, but Illini commit Adam Miller was the chosen one.

The national recruiting rankings consistently had Miller as one of the best players in the state of Illinois. He is a 6-foot-3, 170-pound shooting guard from Morgan Park High School and resides in Chicago, Illinois. He is rated as a four-star recruit who is the No. 33 player in the class of 2020 and the No. 7 shooting guard in the nation. But 247Sports has Miller as the No. 2 player in the state of Illinois.

According to 247Sport’s rankings, DJ Steward is the best player in the Land of the Lincoln. He is a five-star recruit by their standards, and he has already committed to Duke. Honestly, this doesn’t come as a surprise to me. I believe Miller is one of the best players in the country, let alone in the state of Illinois.

Last season, as a senior, Miller dominated with Morgan Park. He finished his final run with the team averaging 23.9 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game. His ability to put the ball in the hoop is extraordinary, but he can do just about everything on the basketball court.

The University of Illinois is getting a legendary player with Miller. This kid will come into the program and start day one for the Orange and Blue. I see him as either the No. 2 or No. 3 guard on the team. He will be a great one-two punch with incoming freshman, Andre Curbelo.

The class of 2020 continues to impress for the Illini. This group of talented players will help the winning trend continue. I can’t wait to see what they can do this season.
