Former Illinois basketball star Deron Williams has helped plenty of his teammates on the basketball court.

Williams played with four different teams in the NBA amassing some impressive numbers at each stop. His best years were by far with the Utah Jazz where he averaged 17.3 points and 9.1 assists per game. He would eventually move on from the Jazz and finish his career as a three-time All-Star and a two-time All-NBA player.

One of the stops on the road to retirement for Williams was with the Dallas Mavericks. This was a hometown stop for the talented point guard on the back end of a great career. Here is where Williams bonded with Mavericks star, Dirk Nowitzki.

Since Williams’ career has concluded, he has stayed around the Dallas area. It makes sense for him to be around the area considering he is from The Colony, Texas, which is a 33-minute jaunt north of Dallas. Despite Williams being done playing professional basketball, he still had one more assist left in him.

No, I am not talking an assist on the basketball court. On Sunday afternoon, Williams posted an Instagram video of him pulling a minivan out of the mud with his pickup truck. Who did that minivan belong to; none other than Nowitzki himself.

Yes, that Nowitzki, the one who he played with when suiting up for the Mavericks. Here is what Williams posted on Instagram.

"So i get a text from @swish41 asking if I’m on quarantine? Followed by I’m stuck in the mud can you come pull me out with your truck? U can’t take a damn mini van off-roading Dirty!!!! 😂🤣😂🤣 #retiredlife"

There are a couple of takeaways from the video Williams posted on Instagram. The first being the fact Nowitzki drives a minivan. Who would have guessed that? I am impressed he even fits considering he is around seven-foot tall.

Next. Thank you to the departing Illini players. dark

The second takeaway is to let people know; just because you are a retired point guard doesn’t mean you are done handing out assists. This was might have been the best assist of Williams’ career.
