2. Demetrius Cannon

Illinois has some playmakers on the team right now, but if we could snag a player like Demetrius Cannon, the team would rise to another level. That is how good I think this kid could be in college.

Cannon is a 6-foot-3, 185-pound wide receiver from Trinity Catholic High School and resides in St. Louis, Missouri. He is rated as a three-star recruit who is the No. 429 player in the class of 2021 and the No. 67 wide receiver in the nation. He is also the No. 6 player in the state of Missouri.

The recruitment of Cannon continues to heat up as months pass. He has roughly 10 scholarship offers with some of the bigger ones coming from teams like Illinois, Tennessee and West Virginia. But there is no doubt in my mind that he is going to start racking up a lot more offers through the summer.

Wide receiver is a position of immediate need for the Orange and Blue. I like the pieces we have this season, but Trevon Sidney, Josh Imatorbhebhe and Ricky Smalling will all depart the program after the 2020 campaign. While I love players like Casey Washington and James Frenchie, I am going to need more depth out wide.

Having a player like Cannon come in would help the wide receiver corps. He is an immediate impact pass catcher who is going to light the world on fire.
