The Illinois football team is heading into the spring and summer looking to gain some serious momentum for the class of 2021.

There has been one player commit to Illinois so far for the class of 2021. Quarterback Samari Collier pledged his commitment to the Illini back in December 2019. This was a huge pickup for the Orange and Blue considering Collier is one of the best quarterbacks in the nation and is someone who could help this team win bowl games in the future.

But there are so many positions the Illini need to work on for 2021. I would love to address the wide receiver corps. I love what we have out wide right now, but the depth is going to take a hit after the upcoming campaign.

Linebacker is another position of concern to me. Once the 2020 season ends, Illinois is going to be hurting for depth at each linebacker position. There needs to be a few signees at linebacker for the class of 2021.

Another position I want Illinois to be eyeing is running back. I love a few of the running backs on the roster, but there isn’t the quality depth that I want to see. This position should transform over the next year or so. Overall, there are quite a few recruits I want this program to land. But there are a select few I think should be top targets right now.

Here are the top 5 Illini targets for the class of 2021.
