The Illinois football team has been busying with offering scholarships over the past couple of weeks, and Jackson Hamilton is the most recent recruit to be targeted.
Lovie Smith has done some amazing work with defensive players at every program he has led. The work he has done with just the Illini defense alone is nothing short of incredible. I believe our defensive personnel will continue getting stronger too. Adding someone like Hamilton would go a long way toward accomplishing this goal.
Hamilton is a 6-foot, 202-pound safety from Blessed Trinity Catholic High School and resides in Roswell, Georgia. He isn’t rated or ranked just yet by 247Sports, but this kid is already starting to pile up the scholarship offers. That means there are a lot of teams who see potential in him.
In addition to the offer Hamilton has from the Illini, he also has an offer from teams like Louisville, Virginia and Arkansas. So, some big names are coming after him. There is a good reason too. This kid is impressive.
Very blessed to receive an offer from The University of Illinois!⚪️🟠 @milessmith44 @CoachLindsey @LovieSmith #Illini #BIG10 pic.twitter.com/JYPiuE9dMA

Hamilton is a very interesting player. He isn’t just pigeonholed into play the safety position. I could see him being a hybrid in the Illinois defense. I love everything about his game. He has great speed. This enables him to guard wide receivers.
The size of Hamilton is incredible too. He seems bigger than 6-foot, 202-pounds. I feel like his size and arm length would help him cover tight ends. I could see Hamilton playing safety but also shifting down into more of a linebacker role too.
This is a great offer by the Illini. We have thrived with players who can play multiple positions. Lovie and his coaching staff know how to recruit for their depth. Adding a player like Hamilton would go a long way in building this team into a Big Ten contender.
