Illinois Basketball: Illini MVP of the game against Iowa
By Jalen Wilson
The Illinois basketball team fell to the Iowa Hawkeyes on Sunday, 72-65, in what was a hard-fought game for the Orange and Blue.
The Illini played well against Iowa. Illinois went back and forth with the Hawkeyes up until the last four minutes of the game. They played well on both offense and defense. Some Illinois players struggled and some players played well against Iowa, but there was one player who made huge plays for the Illini in this game.
That player is Andres Feliz. He made huge plays while coming off the bench for the Illini.
Feliz had a good game against Iowa. He scored 17 points and grabbed four rebounds. Feliz also shot 6-of-11 from the field and 2-of-4 from three-point range. He did a good job getting to the line as he shot 3-of-3 from the charity stripe.
Feliz played a big role for the Orange & Blue on Sunday. He was Illinois’ leading scorer while also played terrific defense. Feliz came up with big plays like the steal from Garza in the post, the four-point play in the 1st half and the three to give the Illini the lead 62-61.
Multiple players did play well against Iowa, though. But Feliz stood out the most too because of the passion he played with on the court. He just made plays on both sides of the ball but, sadly, Illinois couldn’t pull out the win.
This loss snaps the Illini seven-game winning streak and makes Illinois tied for first place in the Big Ten. Illinois is now 16-6 overall and 8-3 in Big ten play.
