There is a big visitor in Champaign for the Illinois football team this weekend.

According to Luke Lowry of IlliniPulse, Tahveon Nicholson will be coming up to Champaign for an official visit this weekend. If the Illini could snag someone like Nicholson, it would help build depth at a much-needed position.

Nicholson is a 5-foot-11, 170-pound athlete from Palmetto Prep School and resides in Jacksonville, Florida. He is rated as a two-star recruit who is the No. 9 prep player in the class of 2020 and the No. 2 prep athlete in the nation. He is also the No. 2 prep player in the state of Florida.

This is a big visit for Nicholson too. In a conversation with Nicholson, the Writing Illini was able to pick his brain a little more about the visit.

“Just getting to know the coaches more, letting them get to know me more also, gaining a good relationship”

It looks like there are really only two teams vying for Nicholson right now. Illinois is his only official visit, which starts today, but Florida Atlantic is also recruiting the young defensive back. With the regular national signing day just days away, you would have to think an official visit to Illinois this late in the game is a great sign.

There is a lot to like about Nicholson’s game. Let me first start off by saying I love a player who plays both sides of the ball. He has knowledge about the wide receiver and cornerback positions. This will only help him at the next level.

I think Nicholson’s playmaking abilities are going to be great for the Illini. He can do multiple things on the football field. His speed is underrated. I think his hands are underrated too. He is going to be dangerous on the football field.

Illinois is getting an official visit from Nicholson. I believe there is a strong chance we land this kid and continue building the program. He would be a great late addition to a team that needs to add players who can cause chaos. I believe Nicholson is that type of player.
