The Illinois basketball team has a few days off between games, so what is this coaching staff doing?

They are working for the future. According to Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers, Illinois assistants were in to see Kendall Brown on Monday. The tweet goes on to say that the Illini have been heavily involved in his recruitment. This would be a great get for the Orange and Blue.

Brown is a 6-foot-7, 205-pound small forward from Sunrise Christian High School and resides in Wichita, Kansas. He is rated as a five-star recruit who is the No. 20 player in the class of 2021 and the No. 6 small forward in the nation. He is also the best player in the state of Kansas.

It is exciting to see Illinois put resources into Brown. He is a great player who could really do some damage. I would also love to see Brad Underwood beat out Bill Self for a big-time recruit out of the state of Kansas. This would really send shockwaves through the college basketball world.

Where would Brown play for the Illini? He is listed as a small forward, but I see him playing more of the No. 4 role. Illinois isn’t a huge team by any means. We start three guards, a combo No. 5 and a true No. 5. I think Brown could come in and give the Illini an athletic No. 4 who would be a nightmare for opposing teams.

Brown has the athletic ability of a guard with the size and length of forward. He can jump through the gym roof. He brings an energy to the court that can rub off on his teammates. I want high-energy guys on this basketball team.
